    DQ Protest

    All,

I hope that everyone had a great meet last night and it was fantastic to be back on deck once again. I have to admit it took me a minute to shake the cobwebs out and get my head back into summer swim team mode.

Unfortunately, we had a number of incidents last night at several meets regarding DQ protests and the use of video evidence.  First, video or photographic pictures of events and participants is NOT ALLOWED to be used to overturn or question any order of finish or DQ per TSA Rules.

    • 202.6 Scoring
      • 202.6.14 - Video photography is not permitted to confirm the order of finish for events.
    • 202.9 Disqualifications
      • 202.9.10 - No parent, official, participant, coach, etc. shall use video photography to confirm or dispute a DQ. All DQs are the responsibility of Stroke & Turn Judges and the Starter.

Further It is absolutely unacceptable for parents, participants, or coaches to approach and challenge any of the officials. All protest should be logged with your TSA Rep per TSA Rule:

    • 202.10 Protests
      • .2.A - Challenges to disqualifications that arise during the meet must be raised through a team’s coach to their TSA Representative. Both TSA Representatives will be responsible to seek a resolution.

I would like to ask that every TSA Rep and Coach reiterate to all of their members that video may NOT BE USED and all protests need to be brought the TSA Rep only.  No parent, participant, or coach should challenge a meet official.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,
    Jeremy Dott
    TSA President
